Prayagraj: The Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh is gearing up to host the Maha Kumbh 2025, anticipated to be the largest cultural and religious event in the world. With over 45 crore devotees expected to gather in Prayagraj, the state government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a seamless, safe, and grand experience for all. For the first time, a massive digitization initiative, supported by cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI), is being undertaken to manage the event’s logistical, security, and healthcare needs.
Digitization and Cybersecurity: A Strong Defense
In a bid to safeguard the event from digital threats, the administration has established a dedicated cyber police station in the Kumbh Mela area. This facility aims to tackle online fraud, misuse of AI, and malicious activities on the dark web and social media platforms. The special cyber team comprises experts drawn from across Uttar Pradesh, who will monitor and neutralize threats 24/7.
A key focus has been placed on monitoring suspicious activities across 44 websites flagged for potential misuse. Senior Superintendent of Police, Mahakumbhnagar, Rajesh Dwivedi, emphasized that strategies have been developed to dismantle fraudulent schemes involving fake links and malicious social media accounts. Mobile cyber teams, equipped with advanced tools, have also been activated to provide on-the-spot solutions to online fraud issues.
Devotees are being educated about safe practices, including using only government-approved websites ending in “gov.in.” They can report fake websites or suspicious online activities through a dedicated helpline (1920), ensuring immediate intervention by the cyber police.
Leveraging AI for Crowd Management and Healthcare
In alignment with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision, AI is playing a transformative role in organizing a “Digital and Healthy Maha Kumbh.” AI-enabled systems are being deployed across several critical areas, including crowd management, healthcare, and emergency response.
AI in Hospitals
One groundbreaking initiative is the integration of an AI messaging flow system in the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) of hospitals set up in the fair area. These systems are capable of interpreting over 40 languages, bridging linguistic gaps between patients and medical staff. The AI tools also provide real-time alerts to doctors in case of critical changes in a patient’s condition, ensuring timely medical attention. This innovative approach highlights Uttar Pradesh’s efforts to showcase a global standard in healthcare management during Maha Kumbh.
AI-Powered Surveillance
AI-enabled cameras installed across the ICU wards and the Kumbh area will monitor patient conditions and assess emergency situations. These cameras, equipped with real-time data analytics, are linked to a centralized control room where senior experts can oversee developments and provide swift guidance during critical incidents.
Ensuring Safety at the Sangam and Bathing Ghats
The logistical challenge of managing the safety of 45 crore devotees has prompted the deployment of state-of-the-art safety measures. Special forces, including personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), have been trained with modern equipment such as life jackets, floating jetties, and rescue tubes.
Advanced Safety Gear
Teams patrolling the Sangam area are equipped with remote-controlled light buoys capable of reaching individuals in distress within seconds. This proactive approach is complemented by a network of rescue boats and deep barricading around the ghats to prevent accidents.
VIP and General Security
Additional security measures have been implemented for VIP zones, such as Kila Ghat, ensuring a smooth experience for all. To prepare for emergencies, extensive rehearsals and drills are being conducted by flood relief teams, highlighting the administration’s readiness to handle any adverse situation.
Financial and Logistical Support
The central government has sanctioned ₹2,100 crore for Maha Kumbh 2025, underscoring its significance as a global cultural event. This funding is being utilized to establish robust infrastructure, including:
- Healthcare Facilities: A 100-bed central hospital and 10 auxiliary hospitals in strategic locations within the fairgrounds.
- Transportation and Accessibility: Enhanced road and rail connectivity to ensure smooth travel for millions of pilgrims.
- Communication Training: Security personnel are being trained in advanced communication techniques to facilitate coordinated operations in the field.
Building ‘Brand Prayagraj’
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath envisions Maha Kumbh 2025 as an opportunity to elevate Prayagraj’s status on the global stage. The emphasis on digitization, health, and safety aligns with the government’s broader goal of positioning Uttar Pradesh as a technologically advanced and culturally rich state.
By blending tradition with technology, Maha Kumbh 2025 is set to redefine the scale and efficiency of religious gatherings worldwide. With AI-driven solutions, proactive cybersecurity measures, and world-class healthcare, the event is a testament to the state’s commitment to excellence.
