Lucknow, India – In a heartening initiative, the Indian Red Cross Society, Lucknow Branch, provided nutritional kits to 50 tuberculosis (TB) patients today as part of its patient support program. The event saw the presence of Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Brajesh Pathak, who personally distributed the kits to the beneficiaries.
During the program, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed concern for a young girl affected by TB and instructed the Chief Medical Officer to ensure that other potential patients in her locality are identified and receive timely treatment, nutritious food, and proper care. He emphasized that TB patients require more than just medication, highlighting the importance of nutritious diet, hygiene, and timely medical support.
Addressing the audience, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “TB elimination is a top government priority. Initiatives like this by the Red Cross Society strengthen awareness and foster community participation. Collective efforts like these will help us achieve the Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘TB-Free India’ ahead of schedule.”
O.P. Pathak, Chairman of the Society, highlighted that the organization continues to work with dedication to serve the community, while Secretary Amarnath Mishra informed that philanthropist Nitin Jain donated 20 stretchers, which, along with 10 wheelchairs, were handed over to the Chief Medical Officer, Lucknow, to assist patients in need.

The Red Cross Society will continue to provide nutritional support to these adopted patients for six months or until full recovery.
The program was attended by several dignitaries, including O.P. Pathak, Amarnath Mishra, Naveen Gupta, Anurag Mishra, Jitendra Singh Chauhan, Charu Mishra, Kush Mishra, Manish Shukla, Roopkumar Sharma, Kartika Mathur, Amit Aggarwal, Ranjit Singh, Majid Ali, and Nafees Ahmed.
This initiative underscores the commitment of the Red Cross Society to humanitarian service and community welfare, ensuring that patients battling TB receive holistic support beyond medical treatment.
