Indian Navy Half Marathon 2026 Held in New Delhi, Thousands Run from India Gate to Kartavya Path

New Delhi |  The Indian Navy successfully organised the second edition of the Indian Navy Half Marathon in the national capital on Sunday, drawing thousands of participants from India and abroad. The event sent out a strong message of fitness, discipline and national pride, while strengthening public engagement with the armed forces.

The marathon featured three race categories—21.1 km (Half Marathon), 10 km and 5 km—ensuring participation from runners of all age groups and fitness levels. The main Half Marathon was flagged off by the Chief of the Naval Staff, in the presence of the Chief of the Army Staff, underscoring the spirit of inter-services camaraderie. The 10 km race was flagged off by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh L. Mandaviya.

The event was further energised by the presence of celebrated sportspersons Saina Nehwal and PR Sreejesh, who encouraged runners and added star appeal to the occasion. Senior officials from partner organisations, including IDFC First Bank, were also present.

The race commenced from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, with the route passing through iconic landmarks such as India Gate and the historic Kartavya Path, offering participants a unique blend of fitness and heritage. A special run and walk were also organised for veterans and senior citizens, which received widespread appreciation.

The primary objective of the event was to promote a healthy lifestyle among citizens and inspire youth to connect with the Indian Navy. With the support of Delhi Police, Delhi Metro and NDMC, the event was conducted smoothly with robust safety and traffic management arrangements. Participation from runners representing 24 countries added a strong international dimension to the marathon.

In the 21.1 km Half Marathon, Dinesh emerged as the winner in the men’s category, while Reema Patel topped the women’s category. In the 10 km race, Aditya Tyagi (men) and Ramini Patel (women) secured first positions. The 5 km race winners were Chanderpal Maiya in the men’s category and Anjali in the women’s category.

Overall, the second edition of the Indian Navy Half Marathon proved to be a memorable celebration of fitness, enthusiasm and patriotism, reinforcing the Navy’s commitment to community outreach and national well-being.
