Greater Noida: Fortis Greater Noida has strengthened its healthcare infrastructure by launching a state-of-the-art Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The facility was inaugurated by renowned cricket icon Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
The new PICU is one of the largest in the region, boasting a 10-bed facility that includes isolation rooms. It is designed to treat children from one month to 18 years of age. The unit is equipped with advanced technology, including pediatric ventilators, non-invasive ventilators, cardiac and neurological monitoring, hemodialysis, arterial and central line support, high-frequency ventilators, and ECMO support.
Speaking at the launch, cricketer Bhuvneshwar Kumar said, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Fortis Greater Noida for significantly strengthening its healthcare capabilities with the launch of a state-of-the-art Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)—an essential addition that is the need of the hour. A PICU plays a pivotal role in safeguarding child health by managing critical illnesses and helping to prevent long-term health complications, thus reducing the mortality rate.”

Pediatric illnesses are different from adult diseases, which is why children should not be treated in adult ICUs. The risk of infection is higher, and it compromises children’s safety. Diseases like dengue, malaria, hepatitis A, respiratory infections, and allergy-asthma are increasingly being reported among children in the city. Thus, having a PICU becomes extremely critical for timely and quality medical intervention.”
