Indian Army Chief Warns of Active Terror Camps Across Pakistan Border

New Delhi: Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi  warned that Pakistan continues to maintain an active terror infrastructure along the border, with at least eight operational camps currently hosting 100 to 150 terrorists at any given time.

Speaking at the Indian Army’s annual press conference, General Dwivedi said these camps remain a significant security concern despite Pakistan’s repeated claims of dismantling terrorist facilities. “These are not abandoned sites. They are active camps with regular training and movement,” he stated.

Camp Locations and Monitoring

Of the eight identified camps, two are located opposite the International Border (IB) and six opposite the Line of Control (LoC). Indian Army sources said these sites continue to facilitate terrorist training and other activities. The Army is closely monitoring these locations, gathering intelligence, and remains prepared to act if hostile activity is detected.

“Our surveillance is continuous, both on the ground and through technical means. Infiltration attempts are detected early and neutralized,” General Dwivedi added, underlining the Army’s strict vigil along the LoC and hinterland areas.

Drone and Aerial Threats

The Army Chief also highlighted recent drone incursions along the border. One such incident was raised during DGMO-level talks with Pakistan. “These unmanned aerial activities violate existing understandings and are being monitored closely,” he said, noting that drones are increasingly being used to aid infiltration and smuggling.

Counter-Terror Operations in Jammu & Kashmir

General Dwivedi said sustained intelligence-driven operations have reduced local recruitment in Jammu and Kashmir, though foreign militants continue to enter from across the border. “The ecosystem supporting terrorism is under pressure, but it has not collapsed. Constant vigilance is essential,” he said.

Preparedness and Technology

The Army Chief emphasized that the Indian Army remains fully prepared to counter both conventional and asymmetric threats. He highlighted the increasing use of advanced technology, including counter-drone systems, precision weapons, and enhanced surveillance, to respond to evolving terrorist tactics effectively.
