India Women’s Cricket Team to Face Sri Lanka in Five-Match T20I Series in December

Mumbai: Fresh off their historic triumph at the Women’s World Cup 2025, the Indian women’s cricket team is set to play a five-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Sri Lanka this December. The series replaces a previously scheduled set of matches against Bangladesh, which were cancelled due to rising political tensions.

The T20I series will begin at Visakhapatnam on December 21, followed by the second match at the same venue on December 23. The remaining three games will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on December 26, 28, and 30.

Having recently secured wins in two bilateral series against West Indies (2–1) and England (3–2), the Indian team is now focused on building momentum ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup. The Women in Blue are also scheduled to play Australia in February 2026 and England in May 2026, which will serve as critical preparation for the global tournament.

After a disappointing early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, India’s women are aiming to fine-tune their strategies, strengthen team composition, and enhance their performance across all departments. Cricket fans will keenly watch these upcoming series to gauge India’s readiness for defending their status among the world’s top teams in the shortest format.

This series against Sri Lanka marks the start of a busy schedule for the Indian women’s team as they aim to translate their ODI World Cup success into T20I dominance and prepare for the upcoming international challenges.
