India to Host Inaugural Blind Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup in November 2025

New Delhi: India is set to create history this November as it prepares to host the first-ever Blind Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup, marking a significant step toward inclusivity and gender equality in sports. The announcement was made during the 15th Annual General Body Meeting of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), held at the state-of-the-art Samarthanam Art Centre in HSR Layout, Bengaluru.

Representatives from 23 states and union territories gathered to deliberate on the future of blind cricket in India, with the upcoming global tournament taking center stage. The World Cup is scheduled to be played from November 5 to 25, 2025, with participation from six countries. The event aims to provide a transformative platform for blind women cricketers to showcase their skills on the international stage.

Focus on Preparation, Inclusion and Opportunity

The AGM focused on key areas such as logistics planning, outreach strategies, sponsorship mobilization, and national team selection processes. Delegates also discussed a robust grassroots roadmap to encourage greater participation of visually impaired women in cricket across India.

Addressing the members, Mahantesh G. K., Founder Trustee of Samarthanam and President of CABI, said:

“This World Cup is not just a tournament—it’s a movement. It seeks to break stereotypes, inspire future generations, and create equal opportunities for visually impaired women athletes.”

A Global Celebration of Ability and Determination

CABI acknowledged the unwavering support from state associations, sponsors, volunteers, and the international blind cricket community, all of whom are instrumental in ensuring the success of this pioneering tournament. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to making the event inclusive, professionally managed, and globally celebrated.

This historic women’s World Cup will precede another major event—the 2026 Blind Men’s T20 World Cup, to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. With the blind women’s edition leading the way, 2025 promises to be a landmark year in the advancement of para-sports in India and beyond.
