New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the schedule for the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, with host nation India set to open the tournament against Sri Lanka on September 30 at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
One of the most highly anticipated matches of the tournament — India vs. Pakistan — will take place on October 5 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, marking the arch-rivals’ clash at a neutral venue under the BCCI–PCB hybrid model. As per the agreement, all of Pakistan’s matches will be held in Colombo due to existing political sensitivities.
Key Fixtures and Format
-
Defending champions Australia begin their campaign against New Zealand on October 1 in Indore, while Pakistan takes on Bangladesh in Colombo on October 2.
-
A marquee clash between Australia and England, a repeat of the 2022 final, is slated for October 22 in Indore.
-
The round-robin stage continues until October 26, with each team playing the others once. The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals, scheduled for October 29 and 30, leading up to the final on November 2.
Depending on Pakistan’s progression, the first semi-final will be held in either Guwahati or Colombo, while Bengaluru will host the second. The final will be staged in either Bengaluru or Colombo.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah expressed optimism:
