New Delhi: The Indian women’s cricket team emerged triumphant in the final of the Tri-Nation Series, defeating hosts Sri Lanka by a massive 97-run margin in Colombo. The victory capped off a dominant tournament for India, which saw the team win four out of five matches, including the final. Their only loss came against Sri Lanka in the group stage.
India’s batting unit put on a clinical display, led by a magnificent century from opener Smriti Mandhana. Supporting knocks of over 40 runs came from Harleen Deol, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Jemimah Rodrigues, helping India post a formidable total of 343 runs.
In response, the Sri Lankan side faltered despite a few resistance efforts, managing only 245 runs before being bowled out in the 49th over. Spinner Sneh Rana was the star with the ball, claiming 4 wickets, including the final scalp of Anushka Sanjeewani for 28, sealing the win for India. Amanjot Kaur chipped in with 3 wickets, while India’s fielding also played a vital role with multiple run-outs adding to Sri Lanka’s collapse.

Among the key moments, Sugandika Kumari was run out after a joint effort by Rana and Mandhana. Just before that, Malka Madara was bowled by Rana. Earlier, Piumi Baddegama was also run out thanks to a combined fielding effort from Amanjot Kaur and Richa Ghosh.
With this dominant win, India not only lifted the Tri-Nation Series trophy but also reinforced their position as a powerhouse in women’s cricket. The balanced team performance, strong batting foundation, and tight bowling will serve as a strong template for upcoming tournaments.
