Lucknow: Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Foreign Trade and Agricultural Export, Dinesh Pratap Singh said that the Horticulture and Food Processing Department of the state is organizing a training program with the aim of promoting beekeeping.
Under this, a 90-day training session will be run from 16 September to 15 December 2024 at the Horticultural Experiment and Training Centers of Saharanpur, Basti and Prayagraj. Various training programs are organized every year, through which about 5000 people are trained. There are unlimited possibilities of employment and income in beekeeping.
The Horticulture Minister said that under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, various schemes are being run by the Horticulture and Food Processing Department to promote beekeeping. About 22 to 23 thousand metric tonnes of honey is produced in Uttar Pradesh. Saharanpur, Bareilly, Moradabad, Lucknow, Sitapur, Hardoi, Faizabad, Barabanki, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Azamgarh and Aligarh districts are major honey producers.
He informed that under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission (MIDH) and National Agricultural Development Scheme, a subsidy of 40 percent is provided to the beneficiaries on the establishment of a unit (including equipment) of 50 bee colonies.
Director Horticulture Vijay Bahadur Dwivedi informed that candidates of all categories, men and women, can participate in the 90-day training to be organized. The minimum educational qualification required is to have passed class eight. Interested persons can apply by 16 September 2024 by contacting their nearest Horticultural Experiment and Training Center and filling the prescribed format. A character certificate issued by two elite persons or a gazetted officer is also required along with the application form. Training will be provided free of cost, but the trainees will have to make their own arrangements for accommodation and food.
