In Times of War, Owaisi Stands Tall: A Rare Opposition Voice Backing Nation Over Politics

New Delhi : As Operation Sindoor cements its place as one of the Indian Army’s most decisive responses to terror, a rare show of unity emerged across political lines. In particular, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has drawn praise—even from his critics—for his unflinching support to the armed forces and the government during this critical juncture.

Despite being known for his sharp rhetoric and religiously aligned politics, Owaisi rose above political divides when the country was under siege. While several fringe voices—including some from within India—sought to deflect blame for the Pulwama and Pahalgam terror attacks onto the Indian state, echoing Pakistan’s narrative internationally, Owaisi took a bold and unequivocal stand.

“Those peddling conspiracy theories blaming India for these attacks are nothing short of jokers,” Owaisi said in a charged speech, targeting those who tried to undermine the country’s stance on Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.

In contrast to several opposition leaders and public figures who either stayed silent or hedged their responses, Owaisi not only condemned the heinous attacks in Pahalgam, which targeted innocent pilgrims in a chilling act of religious violence, but also publicly declared ‘Pakistan Murdabad’, a sentiment rarely voiced so strongly from the Opposition benches.

A Leader Who Chose Country First

In times when identity politics often clouds judgment, Owaisi’s actions showed maturity and a sense of national responsibility. While ideological opponents continue to criticize him for his community-driven politics, even his detractors acknowledged his clear stand in support of India and its armed forces.

As one observer put it, “Say what you will about Owaisi, but in a time of war, he stood with India while many others stayed quiet—or worse, played politics.”

Unlike certain celebrities and influencers—some even widely followed in Pakistan—who failed to condemn the barbaric attacks in unambiguous terms, Owaisi’s statement cut through the noise and partisanship.

A Stark Contrast in the Political Landscape

The country witnessed a disturbing trend of some fringe activists and social media voices blaming the Indian state for terror incidents, inadvertently helping Pakistan craft its defense on global platforms. It was at this juncture that Owaisi’s firm words helped break the perception of a divided India, reinforcing the fact that national security must rise above all political or ideological differences.

Operation Sindoor: A Litmus Test for Patriotism

As Operation Sindoor continues to receive national and international attention for its precision and effectiveness, it has also served as a litmus test for patriotism within India’s political spectrum. Those who stood with the army and the country in this time of crisis have earned the nation’s respect. Those who continued to politicize the armed forces or align their narratives with Pakistan’s propaganda are facing growing public backlash.

In the words of a senior defence analyst, “We needed unity, and for once, a few voices from the Opposition showed what true leadership looks like. Owaisi was one of them.”
