In the Raas Leela, Krishna presented a wonderful union of love and devotion with the Gopis – Swami Muktinathananda

Krishna teaches us to control our mind and stay away from anger and attachment – Swamiji

Lucknow: In his weekly Sunday discourse on the Ramakrishna Vachanamrit, Swami Muktinathananda, Adhyash of Ramakrishna Math, Lucknow, said that the story of Lord Krishna’s birth is extremely sacred and inspiring. He was born in the prison of Kansa in Mathura. Kansa, Devaki’s brother, was terrified after hearing a divine voice that he would die at the hands of Devaki’s eighth son. Fearing this, he imprisoned Devaki and her husband Vasudeva and killed their six sons. When Krishna was born as the eighth son, a miraculous miracle occurred. The prison doors opened on their own, the guards fell asleep, and Vasudeva, carrying the newborn Krishna, crossed the Yamuna River and reached Gokul. There, he left Krishna at the home of Nanda Baba and Yashoda and returned to prison with their newborn daughter.

Swami Ji explained that Krishna was raised in Gokul, where he performed numerous divine acts and demonstrated his divinity from childhood. Later, he established Dharma by killing Kansa. His birth story teaches that truth and righteousness always triumph.

Swami Muktinathananda further explained that Lord Krishna’s pastimes in Vrindavan are truly remarkable, melodious, and delightful to devotees. Vrindavan is the sacred land where Krishna performed numerous divine pastimes during his childhood and adolescence. Here, he stole butter while playing with the cowherds and cowherdesses, captivated everyone with the sweet sound of his flute, and engaged in delightful play on the banks of the Yamuna. Krishna’s most famous pastimes include subduing the serpent Kaliya, killing Putana, and lifting the Govardhan mountain. Through these pastimes, he demonstrated that God faces every challenge to protect his devotees. In the Raas Leela, Krishna presented a wonderful union of love and devotion with the Gopis, symbolizing the union of the soul and the Supreme Being. Every street, grove, and ghat of Vrindavan still reminds us of Krishna’s pastimes. These pastimes inspire us to follow the path of love, devotion, selflessness, and righteousness.

In conclusion, Swami Muktinathananda Ji stated that Lord Krishna’s teachings in the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita are extremely important for human life. Krishna shows Arjuna the path of action, knowledge, and devotion. He says that one should perform one’s duty (karma) without worrying about the results. This is called selfless action, which keeps the mind pure and peaceful. Krishna also teaches that the soul is immortal; it neither takes birth nor dies. Therefore, the fear of death is meaningless. He inspires humans to follow their dharma and follow the path of truth. Through Bhakti Yoga, Krishna shows that true devotion and dedication to God can free one from the sufferings of life. He also teaches the importance of controlling the mind and avoiding anger and attachment.
