Seoul, South Korea : Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co. (Hyundai E&C) has unveiled an ambitious roadmap to redefine urban housing by 2030, pledging to integrate four of its key residential innovation initiatives into future apartment projects. The initiatives focus on cutting inter-floor noise, enhancing health and sleep quality, expanding renewable energy use, and designing flexible interior layouts.
At its Mabuk R&D Center in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, Hyundai E&C demonstrated its Grade-1 noise-reduction flooring. Unlike conventional styrofoam-based insulation, the new system uses high-density plaster made from recycled steel slag and multi-layer shock-absorbing materials. Tests showed that vibrations were barely transmitted even when heavy impact was applied, making it a breakthrough in inter-floor noise control.
The company is also developing a “Neo Frame” precast concrete structure that eliminates load-bearing walls, enabling flexible room configurations. Alongside this, Hyundai’s “All-Life Care House” concept features digital wellness tools, including exercise coaching and an AI-powered “Hey, Sleep” system that optimizes indoor conditions for better rest.

Energy efficiency remains central, with solar-powered “Energy Care Solutions” and photo-plasma ventilation systems designed to reduce costs and improve air quality.
Hyundai E&C confirmed that some of these features will be rolled out in apartment complexes by late 2025, with full integration of all four innovations expected within five years.
