Expansion to boost wealth services for Affluent, HNW, UHNW and NRI clients
Lucknow: HSBC India inaugurated its new branch in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, marking an important milestone in the bank’s strategic expansion across the country. Following the Reserve Bank of India’s approval earlier this year to open 20 new branches, the Lucknow branch becomes HSBC’s 30th branch in India.
Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a global investment destination, driven by continuous infrastructure development, strong economic activity and rising aspirations. In this context, Lucknow is increasingly attracting multinational companies, reflecting the city’s significant growth potential.
Commenting on the branch inauguration, Sandeep Batra, Head – International Wealth and Premier Banking, HSBC India, said: “Given the rapid economic growth and wealth creation in the state, there is a growing interest among both domestic and global companies as well as individuals to establish and expand their presence here. As India’s leading international bank, we are committed to supporting our clients in accessing opportunities both within India and globally, and in achieving their financial goals. Our new branch in Lucknow reflects this commitment to delivering world-class banking solutions closer to where our customers need us.”
On the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, along with the leadership of HSBC India and the Akshaya Patra Foundation, also inaugurated a solar-powered advanced kitchen and distribution facility. He noted that this initiative will enhance the sustainability and efficiency of the PM POSHAN programme and state-level mid-day meal schemes. HSBC India has extended its partnership with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, the implementation partner for the PM POSHAN programme, to further strengthen school nutrition programmes for students from low-income communities in Lucknow—an initiative he described as commendable.

He further stated that the pace at which Uttar Pradesh and Lucknow are progressing, with rapid infrastructure development and the influx of multinational companies, underlines the need for global banks. Uttar Pradesh is among the largest contributors to India’s economy, with Lucknow playing a significant role. He welcomed HSBC India’s expansion in Uttar Pradesh.
With the addition of the Lucknow branch, HSBC now has a network of 30 branches across 18 cities in India. HSBC has maintained a strong presence in India for over 170 years, supporting clients with their financial needs locally and globally. Recently, HSBC India has also opened new branches in Amritsar, Indore and Vadodara. This expansion underscores HSBC’s strong focus on wealth opportunities in India, where the bank is a leading international player offering a comprehensive range of services across International Wealth and Premier Banking, as well as Corporate and Institutional Banking. Looking ahead, HSBC India plans to open new branches in Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Faridabad, Jalandhar, Kanpur, Ludhiana, Mysuru, Nagpur, Nashik, Navi Mumbai, Patna, Rajkot, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram and Visakhapatnam.
