Lucknow | The monsoon has intensified across Uttar Pradesh, bringing widespread showers in various parts of eastern UP over the past 24 hours. Pratapgarh recorded the highest rainfall at 85 mm, followed by Jaunpur with 69.2 mm and Amethi with 65 mm. Other districts like Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Sultanpur, and Ambedkar Nagar also received substantial rainfall.
In a fresh forecast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for six districts in the Bundelkhand and Agra regions, warning of heavy rainfall on Tuesday. Additionally, a Yellow Alert is in place for 29 districts in Western UP, indicating the possibility of moderate to heavy rain.
According to Atul Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Lucknow, the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has weakened, causing the monsoon trough to shift northwards. This shift is expected to result in light to moderate rainfall from eastern to western parts of the state throughout Tuesday.

Meteorologists indicate that sporadic rainfall is expected to continue in the Terai regions of the state for the next one week, providing relief to farmers while raising alerts in flood-prone areas. Authorities have advised local administrations to remain on alert and take necessary precautions in areas forecasted for heavy showers.
