Healthcare with a Human Touch: The Health City Vistaar Promise

Lucknow: Lucknow’s healthcare landscape witnessed a defining moment with the launch of Health City Vistaar, a modern super-specialty multispecialty hospital that reflects Uttar Pradesh’s growing focus on advanced medical infrastructure and patient-centric care. Built with an investment of nearly ₹200 crore, Health City Vistaar stands as one of the most significant private healthcare projects to emerge from the Global Investors Summit 2023, and notably, the first such healthcare project in Lucknow to become operational.

At the forefront of this ambitious initiative is Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, Chairman and Managing Director of Health City Vistaar—an eminent Orthopaedic and Joint Replacement Surgeon with over four decades of experience. Co-founded by a group of senior, surgeon-investors, the hospital follows a unique doctor-led model, combining cutting-edge technology with ethical medical practice.

In this exclusive interview, Dr. Kapoor speaks about the journey behind Health City Vistaar, its infrastructure, revolutionary procedures, community commitment, and his vision for building a trusted healthcare institution for Uttar Pradesh.

Q1. Health City Vistaar has quickly gained attention as a landmark healthcare project. What was the vision behind its creation?
Dr. Sandeep Kapoor: Health City Vistaar was conceived as a natural evolution of our earlier effort, Health City Hospital, which we started in 2016. The vision was clear—to build a surgeon-led, patient-first hospital that delivers world-class medical care while remaining ethical, accessible, and compassionate. Trust is the foundation of healthcare, and everything we do flows from that belief.

Q2. The hospital was inaugurated at a significant moment for Uttar Pradesh. How do you see its role in the state’s growth story?
Dr. Kapoor: Health City Vistaar was inaugurated on August 8, 2024, by Hon’ble Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and it truly represents Uttar Pradesh’s medical vision outlined during the Global Investors Summit. Beyond healthcare delivery, it contributes to employment generation, medical tourism, and supports government initiatives like Ayushman Bharat, making quality treatment accessible to a wider population.

Q3. What makes Health City Vistaar different from other private hospitals in Lucknow?
Dr. Kapoor: The biggest differentiator is that doctors are the founders, investors, and operators. Decisions are driven by medical necessity, not commercial pressure. We emphasize minimal invasive, laparoscopic, arthroscopic, and robotic procedures, reducing big cuts, shortening recovery time, and improving patient outcomes. The Board Of Directors comprises of equally experienced & renowned surgeons namely Dr Sandeep Garg, Dr KB Jain & Dr Rajesh Arora

Q4. Could you highlight the hospital’s infrastructure and facilities?
Dr. Kapoor: At full capacity, Health City Vistaar will have 300 beds, including 60 critical care beds, supported by 8 advanced operation theatres. We operate 40 OPDs, a 24×7 emergency and trauma centre, highly advanced laboratories, a Cath Lab, Endoscopy Suite, and Blood Bank, all backed by the latest high-end medical technology.

Q5. Orthopaedics is a strong focus area here. What advancements have been introduced?
Dr. Kapoor: Orthopaedics is close to my heart. We have pioneered advanced robotic partial and total knee replacement surgeries in the region. These procedures offer greater precision, faster recovery, and long-term joint health. Our approach reflects my own medical philosophy—never give up on the patient.

Q6. How extensive is the hospital’s medical team and specialty coverage?
Dr. Kapoor: We currently offer 28+ medical specialties, supported by over 100 eminent doctors, including 75+ senior consultants. From orthopaedics, neurology, neurosurgery, and general surgery to minimal access surgery, geriatric care, obesity management, diabetes care, trauma services, and premature birth management—we offer comprehensive multispecialty care under one roof.

Q7. Training and skill development also seem to be a priority. Why is this important?
Dr. Kapoor: Quality healthcare depends on trained manpower. We have established training programmes and nursing and paramedical education facilities to nurture the next generation of healthcare professionals. This ensures consistent quality and builds long-term capacity for the healthcare ecosystem of Uttar Pradesh.

Q8. The hospital has been active in community health initiatives. Could you elaborate?
Dr. Kapoor: Healthcare doesn’t begin or end at hospital walls. Through programmes like ‘Jeevan Vistaar’ for geriatric care, and awareness initiatives on obesity, diabetes, women’s health, and joint preservation, we aim to educate people about preventive care. Serving underprivileged patients is not charity—it is our responsibility.

Q9. Mental health and lifestyle diseases are emerging challenges. How should society address them?
Dr. Kapoor: Mental health is deeply linked to physical health. In the post-COVID era, excessive screen time, work-from-home habits, and sedentary lifestyles have affected posture, eyesight, fitness, and mental discipline. People must consciously manage their thoughts, stress, and time. Health is holistic—you cannot separate the mind from the body.

Q10. Looking ahead, what is your long-term vision for Health City Vistaar?
Dr. Kapoor: Our commitment is simple yet profound—care that heals, support that reassures, and trust that lasts. We want Health City Vistaar to stand alongside premier institutions like KGMU, SGPGIMS, and RMLIMS, strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s healthcare ecosystem. As we move into 2026 and beyond, our focus remains on excellence, ethics, and expanding access to advanced medical care.
