Lucknow: With the upcoming Kanwar Yatra and a series of religious festivals during the monsoon month of Sawan, the Uttar Pradesh Health Department has issued a state-wide alert to ensure robust medical preparedness. All major medical institutions, including SGPGI, KGMU, Dr. RML Institute, and Saifai Medical University, along with district-level hospitals, have been directed to step up arrangements.
In a formal directive issued by Parth Sarthi Sen Sharma, Principal Secretary of the Department of Medical Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education, officials have been instructed to make full arrangements within three days to manage the potential influx of patients and medical emergencies.
Key Measures Ordered:
- Adequate deployment of ambulances along all sensitive Kanwar routes
- Establishment of emergency wards at community health centers
- Availability of treatment facilities at primary health centers and sub-health centers
- Stocking of essential medicines and medical supplies
- Ensuring functionality of medical equipment and diagnostic services
- Deployment of sufficient healthcare personnel, including doctors and paramedics
The health department emphasized rapid response to accidents along the pilgrimage routes. Officials have been instructed to immediately transport injured individuals to the nearest hospital and promptly inform senior authorities.
Festival Preparedness Underway
In addition to the Kanwar Yatra, other Sawan-related festivals are expected to witness large gatherings across the state. The department is ensuring emergency medical services are fully functional at all times to handle the expected surge.
