Hazratganj Police Crack Robbery Case Within 24 Hours, Arrest Five Accused; Stolen Property Fully Recovered

Lucknow: In a swift and decisive operation, the Hazratganj Police Station successfully solved a robbery case within 24 hours of its registration, arresting five habitual offenders and recovering 100 percent of the looted property.

Incident Details

The complainant, Rohit Bansal, a resident of New Hyderabad Colony, Nishatganj, who works in event management and decoration services, reported that on February 26, 2026, he was lured by the accused under the pretext of offering work. According to the complaint, the accused blindfolded him and took him to a secluded location, where they forced him to transfer money online and robbed him of his wallet, wristwatch, and gold chain.

Based on the complaint, FIR No. 38/2026 was registered on February 27, 2026, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against unknown persons.

Swift Police Action

Taking serious note of the incident, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) formed three special teams under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hazratganj. With the assistance of the Cyber Help Desk and technical surveillance, the police identified and apprehended the five accused on February 28, 2026.

All stolen items were recovered from their possession.

Modus Operandi

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to identify individuals seeking employment through online platforms. They would gain their trust by offering work opportunities and then take them to isolated locations where accomplices were already present. The victims were intimidated, assaulted, and robbed of valuables, and money was forcibly transferred from their mobile phones.

The primary motive of the gang was to loot valuable items and extort money under the guise of providing employment.

Arrested Accused

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  1. Nuruddin alias Sameer (21) – Resident of Rahimnagar, Lucknow; runs a vegetable cart.
  2. Ravi Rajput (19) – Resident of Pandey Tola, Aliganj; works at a garment shop.
  3. Ayush Yadav (28) – Resident of Pandey Tola, Aliganj; employed at a clothing store.
  4. Ayush Balmiki (19) – Resident of Pandey Tola, Aliganj; sanitation worker.
  5. Gopal Soni (18) – Resident of Banarasi Tola, Aliganj.

Police stated that Nuruddin alias Sameer has prior criminal cases registered against him at Hazratganj and Krishna Nagar police stations. The criminal history of the other accused is being verified.

Recovery

The following items were recovered from the accused:

  • One gold chain (yellow metal)
  • One wallet
  • ₹14,400 in cash
  • One HDFC Bank ATM card
  • Four mobile phones used in the commission of the crime

Police Team

The operation was executed by a dedicated team of officers from Hazratganj Police Station, including Sub-Inspectors Anil Bhagat, Irfan Ahmad, Madhukar Singh, Nisha Singh, Aryan Nain, Shivam Pandey, and Swatantra Patel (Cyber Help Desk), along with head constables and constables of the Lucknow Police Commissionerate.

Police officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring public safety and taking prompt action against organized criminal activities in the city. Further legal proceedings are underway.
