Lucknow: To promote home composting in the state, a 02-month ‘Har Ghar Swachhata, Har Ghar Hariyali’ campaign will be run from July 15 to September 15, 2024. Director Urban Bodies and Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban Anuj Kumar Jha has issued instructions to all Municipal Commissioners and Executive Officers in this regard. Under this campaign, 75,000 houses will be selected for home composting from 15th July to 15th September in all the districts/bodies of the state and plantation will also be promoted along with self-disposal of wet waste in these houses.
During this period, 1000 citizens will be selected in each district and encouraged for home composting, this will promote cleanliness and greenery in every house along with gardens, terrace gardens and balcony gardens in homes. During the campaign, each house will be identified and compost will be prepared from wet waste in a time period of 02 months, plantation and vegetable farming will be promoted with compost. Apart from this, citizens will also be made aware to grow at least 01 vegetable in each house and for source separation. For the promotion of the program, all the bodies will post the program related activities on their own social media pages with the hashtag #MeraKachraMeriZimmedari.
Director Anuj Kumar Jha informed that under the ‘Har Ghar Swachhata, Har Ghar Hariyali’ campaign starting from July 15 in the state, 1000 citizens will be identified district-wise for 75,000 home composting in the bodies of all the districts of the state, who will promote cleanliness and greenery in every house through home gardens, terrace gardens and balcony gardens etc. by home composting. At the same time, by identifying each house and preparing compost in a period of 02 months, plantation and vegetable farming will be promoted with compost. The work will be monitored and supervised for 02 months in 1000 identified houses in each district. Along with this, citizens will also be made aware to grow at least 01 vegetable in each house. Under the “Har Ghar Swachhata, Har Ghar Hariyali” program being run by Swachh Bharat Mission, Urban, all citizens will also be made aware for source separation.

Under the program “Har Ghar Swachhata, Har Ghar Hariyali”, citizens performing excellently will be honored after the completion of 02 months. In which top 1000 citizens will be given items worth Rs. 1000, top 100 citizens will be given items worth Rs. 2000, top 10 citizens will be given items worth Rs. 3000 and top 03 citizens will be given items worth Rs. 5000 as gifts and will also be honored at the state level for doing excellent work. Under the program ‘Har Ghar Swachhata, Har Ghar Hariyali’, the help of voluntary organizations / CSO will also be taken and the organizations doing excellent work will also be honored by giving certificates.
