Hapur — In a remarkable display of patriotism, a young man from Hapur has paid a unique tribute to the nation’s martyrs by tattooing not just one or two, but the names of all 559 soldiers who laid down their lives for the country. Alongside the names, he has also inked portraits of several great Indian leaders and freedom fighters.
Abhishek Gautam has immortalised the names of soldiers martyred during the Kargil War and the Pulwama attack on his back. In addition, his body bears tattoos of national icons such as Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Maharana Pratap, Mahatma Gandhi, Rani Lakshmibai, Chanakya, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. At the centre of his back is a detailed tattoo of the India Gate, symbolising the nation’s tribute to its fallen heroes.
Speaking about his motivation, Abhishek said, “I was deeply moved by the constant news of soldiers sacrificing their lives at the border. I decided to etch their names onto my body so they would be remembered forever. These 559 names belong to the brave soldiers who defended the country during the Kargil conflict. The 11 portraits are of great leaders whose stories we have read since childhood — from Subhas Chandra Bose to Guru Gobind Singh and Rani Lakshmibai.”

Abhishek concluded by extending his heartfelt Independence Day wishes to all Indians, urging citizens to remember and honour the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes.
