Lucknow: IAS officer Gunjan Dwivedi formally assumed charge as Mission Director of the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin at the Panchayati Raj Directorate in Aliganj.
Soon after taking charge, she chaired her first review meeting with departmental officials to assess the progress of ongoing sanitation initiatives. Key areas reviewed included rural cleanliness drives, solid and liquid waste management, community toilets, plastic waste management, and sanitation-related works in gram panchayats.
Emphasizing a long-term vision, Dwivedi stated that rural sanitation must evolve beyond a campaign into a sustainable behavioural change driven by public participation. She stressed that ensuring timeliness, quality, and transparency in execution would be the department’s top priority.

Encouraging a team-based approach, she urged officials to work collectively to make rural areas cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable. Senior officials and staff members were present during the meeting.
