Gujarati Film ‘Mom Tane Nahi Samje’ to Stream on ShemarooMe: A Heartfelt Tribute to Motherhood

Gujarat | Every child has a moment when they feel, “Mom just doesn’t understand.” Her concern seems like interference, her questions like judgments, and her love—overbearing. But is it really intrusion, or is it an invisible shield from storms we can’t yet see? Exploring this emotional tug-of-war with poignant honesty, the Gujarati film ‘Mom Tane Nahi Samje’ struck a deep chord with audiences during its theatrical run earlier this year. Now, the much-loved film is all set to premiere digitally on ShemarooMe.

Starring Rashami Desai, Amar Upadhyay, Tejal Vyas, and Hemang Dave, the film is set in the backdrop of an Indian family living abroad. At the heart of the story is Aashka (played with layered vulnerability by Desai), a devoted mother whose love is often misunderstood. Her children label her protective instincts as meddling, her husband sees her as overly concerned—yet no one notices the quiet strength that keeps the family together, or the loneliness that grows when her love is taken for granted.

It’s only after Aashka distances herself that her family begins to understand her sacrifices and unwavering presence. Her absence becomes the mirror that reflects her true value.

On the occasion of the digital release, Rashami Desai said, “Playing Aashka was emotionally enriching and creatively fulfilling. She is a mother who represents selfless love and quiet resilience. This role challenged me in a way I hadn’t experienced before, and working under the direction of Dharmesh Mehta sir was an incredible experience.”

She added, “Aashka is an educated, progressive woman who chooses to be a homemaker—an empowered decision that deserves recognition. Her family is her world, and her unwavering commitment never wavers, even as her priorities shift.”

The film’s message is timeless and universal—a mother’s love, often unspoken and misunderstood, is always unconditional. With its emotional depth, realistic family dynamics, and a story that lingers long after the final scene, ‘Mom Tane Nahi Samje’ is a warm, thought-provoking reminder to appreciate the unsung heroines in our lives.

Streaming on ShemarooMe from July 24, the film is not just a viewing experience—it’s an invitation to reflect, reconnect, and perhaps, make that overdue call to say, “Thank you, Mom.”
