Lucknow — In a shocking case of violence rooted in personal enmity, a man brutally murdered his maternal uncle in the Aliganj area of Lucknow on Wednesday night. The accused, identified as Anuj Kashyap (21), locked his uncle Baboolal Kashyap (26) in a room, thrashed him mercilessly, and then slit his throat with a sharp weapon. After committing the crime, he broke through a wall and fled the scene.
Both men were employed as security guards and lived in the same rented house in Shivlok Colony. While Baboolal resided there with his wife Pooja, eight-month-old daughter, and son Ansh, Anuj, originally from Bhadaiya (Ram Khelawan village), had recently been released from jail.
Old Grudge Triggered Murder
Sources say the motive dates back six months, when Anuj eloped with Baboolal’s underage sister-in-law. He was arrested and jailed for the offence. Upon his release just two weeks ago, he had reportedly been seeking revenge.

On the night of the murder, with the rest of the family away, Anuj trapped Baboolal in a room, assaulted him, and carried out the fatal attack. Baboolal’s cries for help alerted neighbors, but by the time help arrived, Anuj had escaped.

Police Investigation Underway
Police reached the scene promptly and rushed Baboolal to the hospital, where he was declared dead. DCP Gopal Krishna Chaudhary confirmed the case appears to be one of personal rivalry. Evidence has been collected from the crime scene, and crime branch and surveillance teams have been formed to trace the absconding accused.
The murder has left the local community in a state of shock and fear. Baboolal’s grief-stricken wife and children are receiving support from neighbors as the police intensify their manhunt for Anuj Kashyap.
