Lucknow — Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of the Indian Air Force has etched his name into history by becoming the first Indian to travel to the International Space Station (ISS). Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Shukla’s milestone achievement has sparked pride across the nation and especially in his home state.
In recognition of this momentous feat, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President and former minister Ajay Rai visited Group Captain Shukla’s residence to personally congratulate the family. He honoured Shukla’s proud parents with a ceremonial shawl and praised their son’s exceptional achievement.
“This is a proud day not only for Uttar Pradesh but for the entire nation. Group Captain Shukla’s journey to the ISS is a historic moment that will inspire not just this generation but generations to come,” said Ajay Rai during the visit.

Several senior Congress leaders accompanied Rai, including former minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui, former MLA Shyam Kishore Shukla, Vice Chairman of the Media Department Manish Srivastava Hindvi, City President Amit Srivastava Tyagi, Aryan Mishra, Abdullah Sher Khan, and Rajendra Pandey.
The visit served as a celebration of Indian excellence in space exploration and a heartfelt acknowledgment of the courage, dedication, and talent of one of Uttar Pradesh’s brightest sons.
