Gas leak in Vinamr Khand, lives of employees in danger

Lucknow: During the cleaning of sewer manhole by Suez India’s team in Vinamr Khand area of ​​Gomti Nagar today, a leak in Green Gas Limited’s underground gas line came to light, which has raised serious questions about safety in the area. It has been told that Green Gas Limited has damaged the sewer manhole without informing the Jalkal department and laid its gas pipeline inside it, due to which the pipeline got damaged and started leaking during the sewer cleaning work today.

Suez India’s Safety Manager Pankaj Singh said that gas leakage during cleaning with hydraulic grabber machine created a danger of a major accident. He said, “Having a gas pipeline in a sewer manhole is life-threatening. A small spark can cause an explosion, which can put the lives of the cleaning friends at risk. This negligence is unacceptable.”

Rajesh Mathpal, Project Director of Suez India, said that we have already informed the concerned departments several times through letters that the LT power line and gas pipeline should be removed from inside the sewer manhole, despite this, no department has taken any concrete steps on this matter till now. This kind of negligence can lead to a major accident some day. Mr. Mathpal also said that “Suez India gives top priority to the safety of its employees.

After the incident, officials of Green Gas Limited reached the spot and tried to stop the leak. However, no official statement has been issued by the company yet.
