District Magistrate Directs Regular Meetings for Environmental Action
Kaushambi: In a significant step toward strengthening environmental protection and promoting Ganga cleanliness at the grassroots level, Kaushambi District Magistrate Dr. Amit Pal has directed the formation of ‘Green Chaupal’ in all remaining gram panchayats. The instruction was issued during a joint meeting of the District Environment Committee and District Ganga Committee held under his chairmanship.
Calling the initiative a potential game changer for rural environmental awareness and problem-solving, Dr. Pal emphasized that the Green Chaupal meetings must be conducted regularly. The move aims to encourage community participation, address local ecological concerns, and build sustainable habits among villagers.

During the review meeting, the District Magistrate examined ongoing efforts for the protection of designated forests and stressed the need for focused plant conservation. He also instructed officials to immediately install signboards at all remaining wetlands in the district.
Major Push for Ganga Cleanliness & Youth Participation
Dr. Pal directed officials to launch an extensive public awareness campaign for the cleanliness of the Ganga, ensuring mandatory involvement of local youth. He also sought strict accountability from urban bodies that have failed to implement phytoremediation—plant-based wastewater purification—on drains discharging into the river.

Responding to a request from District Ganga Committee member Vinay Panda, the District Magistrate instructed the Executive Officer of Kadadham to ensure penal action against individuals found littering at Kubri Ghat.
The meeting was attended by Chief Development Officer Vinod Ram Tripathi, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjay Kumar, and other senior officials.
Authorities believe that the Green Chaupal initiative and the renewed focus on ecological protection will play a crucial role in improving the environment across Kaushambi, particularly around key stretches of the Ganga.
