Lucknow : Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Lucknow, witnessed a grand and spirited celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day, organized under the aegis of Lucknow University with the aim of contributing to a world record attempt. The event was held under the guidance of the college principal, Professor Manjula Upadhyay, and featured a variety of yoga activities executed with enthusiasm and precision.
On this occasion, yoga instructors Ms. Lalita, Ms. Anjali, and Ms. Kiran from Prayag Arogyam Kendra led participants through the Government of India’s standardized Yoga Protocol, which included Surya Namaskar, a series of asanas, pranayama techniques, and yoga nidra. The session was marked by deep focus, energy, and collective mindfulness, offering both physical revitalization and mental clarity to all attendees.
Cadets from the National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) participated with great discipline, adding to the decorum and spirit of the celebration. Their active engagement highlighted the importance of yoga in fostering both wellness and civic responsibility.
In her inspirational address, Principal Prof. Manjula Upadhyay stated, “Thanks to the efforts of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, yoga has gained international recognition. The world now looks up to India as the global Guru of Yoga. Yoga brings balance, harmony, and health into our lives and must be adopted as a lifelong practice.”
The event saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members, administrative staff, and a large number of students, all of whom contributed to the vibrancy and success of the day.
The program was coordinated by Professor Seema Pandey and Ms. Jyoti Verma from the Department of Physical Education. In addition, cadets from the 19 UP Girls Battalion of NCC also took part in a mass yoga session at Janeshwar Mishra Park, organized by the Uttar Pradesh Directorate of NCC, under the leadership of Major (Dr.) Manmeet Kaur Sodhi.
The 11th International Yoga Day celebration at Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya proved to be a deeply enriching, disciplined, and inspirational event, leaving participants with a strong message about the importance of yoga for health, focus, and lifestyle transformation.
