Governor calls for memorable Yoga Day this time

Lucknow: A meeting was held  at Raj Bhavan under the chairmanship of the Governor of the state, Anandiben Patel, regarding the arrangements for the Yoga Day event to be held on June 21. In the meeting, the Governor directed that the event should not be limited to Raj Bhavan alone but arrangements should be made to organize it on a large scale in every school, open grounds, parks etc. of the state.

She especially asked Principal Secretary AYUSH Department  Leena Johri to organize this event on a large scale in every district. She also directed that arrangements should be made to teach yoga to pregnant mothers and Anganwadi children, so that along with healthy children, the habit of yoga is also developed in children.

In this sequence, the Governor emphasized on practicing yoga in association with nature and weather. She said that if it rains during yoga practice in open grounds, then easy yoga asanas should be done according to the weather, but yoga should be practiced in natural environment only. The Governor also asked to involve the residents of slums, women and children of the Umeed Sansthan who have separated from begging and are connected to the main stream of life, in yoga.

She directed the Divisional Commissioner Lucknow Division Dr. Roshan Jacob to connect the residents of these settlements with yoga and also provide them with yoga materials such as T-shirts, mats etc. In the meeting, the Governor also expected from the UP government that all the ministers of the state should go to different places and represent yoga programs and spread awareness and interest in yoga among the people.

In the meeting, the Governor emphasized on the public resolve of yoga with public cooperation and said that the main objective of yoga is to promote healthy life.

In the meeting, Principal Secretary AYUSH  Leena Johri informed that Yoga Week will start from June 15, 2024, which will conclude on June 21, 2024 on Yoga Day. While discussing the arrangements for yoga, she said that more natural yoga arrangements will be ensured as per the wishes of the Governor. Divisional Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob said that efforts will be made to connect more and more schools of the state with yoga. During a detailed discussion on the organization of the program, Additional Chief Secretary Governor, Dr. Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, while giving information about the campaign to make a Guinness World Record of online oath to make yoga a part of life, inspired by the Governor, said that this oath campaign can be made successful by registering through the link https://rajbhawanyogapledge.in/.
