Governor Anandiben Patel Inaugurates 22nd National Book Fair in Lucknow

Lucknow: The 22nd National Book Fair, a major literary and cultural event, was inaugurated this evening by Governor Anandiben Patel at Balrampur Garden, Ashok Marg. The fair will continue with various activities until September 14.

The book fair is based on the theme of ‘Vision 2047: Developed India, Developed State.’ Governor Patel showed great interest, carefully visiting the stalls. She purchased books including the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and works by Vivekananda, along with a book on Chicago. Publishers presented her with a set of nine books, including “Maa Ahilyabai,” “Nar Se Narayan,” and “Tatvamasi,” while Apurva Shah from Ahmedabad gifted her a 1-inch ‘Gita Gutka.’

Fair convenor Manoj Singh Chandel welcomed all the guests, recalling fond memories of previous fairs attended by former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and former Governors Vishnukant Shastri and Ram Naik. The event was also attended by co-convenors Astha Dhal and Akarshan Jain, Fair Director Akarsh Chandel, T.P. Hawelia, and Jyoti Kiran Ratan.

The fair offers free entry and will be open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM. It features a wide selection of new books in Hindi and English. On the inaugural day, the Osho Foundation and Dr. Shashi Chakravarti and their team presented cultural programs.

The fair will host a variety of literary events, including traditional poetry sessions, mushairas, and book launches. A special children’s corner will offer story sessions and competitions for young readers. All books purchased at the fair will have a minimum 10% discount. The event’s supporting partners include UP Metro, Radio City, Origins, Kiran Foundation, Join Hands Foundation, Lokangan, and Vishvam Foundations.
