Lucknow : Samajwadi Party National President and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has strongly criticized the deteriorating condition of government healthcare services in Uttar Pradesh, stating that government hospitals have turned from centres of treatment into stories of negligence and death.
In a scathing statement, Akhilesh accused the BJP-led government of deliberately destroying the state’s healthcare system. “Major hospitals like Lohia Institute, KGMU, and Nagaram CHC are no longer functioning properly. Health services in these institutions have completely collapsed,” he alleged.
Highlighting recent instances of mismanagement, he pointed out that 12 biopsy samples went missing from Lohia Institute, blood disappeared from KGMU Trauma Centre, and patients are being given endoscopy appointments 18 months later. At Nagaram CHC, ultrasound services have been unavailable for over four months.
Akhilesh further slammed the Health Minister, accusing him of ignoring public service and instead focusing on divisive rhetoric. “The minister is busy in hollow statements, disconnected from ground realities,” he said.
He went on to claim that the BJP government is deliberately dismantling public services to push privatization, which he sees as an indirect attack on the reservation system. “The same condition can be seen in education and electricity. It is part of a calculated conspiracy,” he said.
No Accountability for Hundreds of Deaths, Says Akhilesh
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Akhilesh condemned the lack of resignations after numerous deaths and accidents in public institutions. “Since the BJP came to power, the culture of taking moral responsibility has vanished. Even after hundreds of deaths, no minister or responsible official has resigned. This is the BJP’s biggest political and ethical failure,” he stated.
Akhilesh warned that the people are now seeing through the BJP’s intentions and are preparing to oust them in 2027.
SP Pays Tribute to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia
On the occasion of the anniversary of the Goa Liberation Movement, the Samajwadi Party paid homage to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, who had launched the anti-Portuguese movement on June 18, 1946.
Following instructions from Akhilesh Yadav, senior leader and former minister Rajendra Chaudhary visited Goa, offered floral tributes to Lohia’s statue at Aguada Jail, and at Lohia Maidan in Margao. He also participated in the Goa Mukti Diwas celebrations on December 19, 2023, and hoisted the national flag at the Gandhi Institute.
“Under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party continues to walk on the path shown by Lohia, defending the values of democracy and freedom,” Chaudhary said.
