Government Buses to Operate from Villages in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: In a major move to improve rural connectivity, the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department has finalized 1,540 routes to link 28,000 villages across the state. Of these, 1,130 are existing routes, while 410 new routes have been added.

For the first time, government buses will operate on these routes, enhancing public transport accessibility for villagers. Permits have already been issued for 374 routes, and bus services on these roads are expected to begin after Holi. The permit issuance process for the remaining routes is underway.

To ensure smooth operations, the UP Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will deploy 1,277 contracted buses across 1,213 routes, while government-run buses will operate on the remaining routes. Recruitment for bus drivers and conductors will also take place soon.

Key Questions:

  • Which 374 routes will be covered first?
  • How will these new bus services benefit rural communities?
  • What will be the fare structure for passengers?
  • By when will all 1 lakh villages in UP be connected via government bus services?

With this initiative, rural areas in Uttar Pradesh are set to experience improved transportation, boosting economic activity and accessibility for daily commuters.
