Lucknow: In a move to promote eco-tourism alongside religious tourism, the Uttar Pradesh government is developing a modern eco-park in the Kusumhi forest of Gorakhpur under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s dream initiative. The project, with a total investment of ₹4.84 crore, has already received an initial installment of ₹50 lakh. The initiative aims to position Gorakhpur as a major tourism hub in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing the project, Tourism and Culture Minister Jayveer Singh said the state is rapidly advancing in the tourism sector, creating a distinct identity for itself. “Gorakhpur is a key center with immense tourism potential. The eco-park will offer visitors a chance to experience nature up close while enjoying modern amenities,” he added.
The eco-park will feature a grand entrance (₹15.58 lakh), a state-of-the-art interpretation center (₹28.45 lakh), and Swiss cottages (over ₹1 crore) for a comfortable stay amidst greenery. Additional attractions include an upgraded cafeteria (₹32.77 lakh), tree houses and tent camping (₹30.88 lakh), and a modern yoga center (₹41.86 lakh) for meditation and wellness. The park will also be equipped with bio-toilets, security fencing, solar-powered utilities, parking, and seating arrangements.

Amrit Abhijat, Additional Chief Secretary of Tourism, Culture & Endowments, highlighted that the initiative, guided by the UP Eco-Tourism Board, seeks to develop the state’s forests, rivers, and lakes as sustainable tourist destinations while generating local employment. The Kusumhi forest eco-park, just 10 km from Gorakhpur Railway Station and close to Gorakhpur Airport, Ramgarh Tal, and Buddha-related sites, is set to become a new landmark for nature and adventure tourism in the region.
