Lucknow: Gomtinagar police have arrested a man accused of taking a minor girl away on false pretences and later assaulting her. The accused has been identified as Ajit Pokhara, a resident of Sitapur.
According to police officials, the case was registered on June 30, 2025, after the girl’s mother lodged a complaint stating that her 15-year-old daughter had been enticed away by a young man. Based on the complaint, an FIR was filed under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and investigation began.
During the inquiry, the minor’s statement was recorded, in which she levelled serious allegations against the accused. Meanwhile, the police received information from an informant that the suspect was present at Gomtinagar Railway Station.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the police team apprehended Ajit Pokhara at around 6:30 am. He has been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.
