Mumbai: Sony SAB’s mythological saga Gatha Shiv Parivaar Ki – Ganesh Kartikey moves towards bringing alive moments from the divine journey of Lord Shiv (Avinesh Rekhi) and Goddess Sati (Shrenu Parikh). What begins as a grand yagna hosted by King Daksh (Nagesh Selwan) turns into a heartbreaking moment that changes the course of destiny. Life-changing decisions will be made, and relationships are put to the ultimate test.
After a grand and divine wedding celebrated by the gods and the cosmos, Goddess Sati begins her new life with Lord Shiva, the universe rejoices in their union, on the other hand King Daksh announces a grand yagna and deliberately chooses not to invite Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati but hope still lingers in Goddess Sati’s heart. Believing that a daughter always has a place in her father’s home, she decides to attend, wishing for reconciliation. Instead, she faces humiliation. In front of the entire gathering, King Daksh insults Lord Shiva and questions her marriage with an ascetic. Torn between being a daughter and being a devoted wife, Goddess Sati stands heartbroken. Unable to bear the disrespect toward her husband, she walks into the sacred fire and self-immolates, a decision that shocks the universe. Her sacrifice becomes the spark that breaks and ignites Lord Shiva into a fierce Tandav and leads to the unleashing of Veerabhadra and Bhadrakali.
Shrenu Parikh, playing Goddess Sati in Ganesh Kartikey, shares, “Playing a daughter who still hopes for her father’s acceptance and at the same time a wife who cannot tolerate disrespect towards her husband was not easy. What touched me the most was Sati’s helplessness in that moment. She walks in with hope, and within seconds that hope breaks in front of everyone. While performing it, I kept thinking about how painful it must be to realise that the place you once called home no longer feels like your own. That feeling stayed with me. For me, this was not about anger, it was about a woman quietly choosing her self-respect, even when her heart is breaking. I feel viewers will see that pain and understand her.”
Tune in to watch Ganesh Kartikey, every Monday to Saturday at 8 PM, only on Sony SAB
