Global Poetry Gathering Celebrates Languages and Artistic Expression

Lucknow: A remarkable celebration of languages, poetry, and artistic expression recently brought together poets from different parts of the world in an event titled “Sansar”, organized by the Raza Foundation. The unique gathering created a vibrant space where literature, visual arts, and diverse cultural voices converged, leaving participants deeply inspired and enriched.

The event served as a meeting point for poets representing multiple languages and cultures, creating what many participants described as a “world within the world.” For those attending, it was not merely a literary event but a profound journey through emotions, experiences, and shared human values expressed through poetry.

The spirit of the gathering echoed the artistic vision of the legendary painter S. H. Raza, whose work often integrated poetic lines into his paintings. Raza believed that different forms of art could complement and enrich each other, creating a dialogue between visual and literary expression. The “Sansar” event reflected this philosophy by bringing poets and artists together under one creative platform.

The initiative was also guided by noted cultural thinker and poet Ashok Vajpeyi, who has long been known for his efforts to bring literature, poetry, and the arts closer together. Through his sustained commitment to cultural dialogue, he has played a significant role in creating spaces where writers, artists, and thinkers can collaborate and exchange ideas.

Participants noted that the title “Sansar,” meaning “world,” perfectly captured the essence of the event. It represented a universe of languages, expressions, and creative energies, where poets from different regions shared their works and connected through shared human experiences.

Despite differences in language, geography, and cultural backgrounds, the poets found a deep common ground in their themes and emotions. Their poems spoke of love for humanity, concern for social inequalities, hope for the future, and courage in the face of challenges. These universal sentiments created a sense of unity among the participants, reinforcing the idea that poetry transcends linguistic and cultural boundaries.

The gathering also served as a reminder of the importance of linguistic diversity at a time when many languages and dialects face social and political divisions. In an era when regional politics and cultural misunderstandings can sometimes create barriers between communities, the event celebrated languages as bridges rather than boundaries.

Poets and participants emphasized that literature, especially poetry, naturally resists borders and restrictions. The shared appreciation for words and ideas fostered an atmosphere of warmth, respect, and intellectual exchange throughout the event.

A crucial role in making the multilingual interactions possible was played by translators, who helped bridge linguistic gaps and ensured that every participant could fully experience the richness of the poetic expressions. Their efforts enabled a smooth and meaningful exchange of ideas across languages.

Organizers also acknowledged the contribution of volunteers and collaborators who helped make the large-scale event possible. Special thanks were extended to Sanjeev and his team for their organizational efforts, as well as to photographers such as Nitin Gupta and others who documented the memorable moments of the gathering.

For many participants returning to their cities, including Lucknow, the experience remained deeply resonant. While the physical journey ended, the emotional and creative journey continued within them—filled with memories of conversations, poetic recitations, artistic collaborations, and the shared celebration of human creativity.

The “Sansar” gathering ultimately demonstrated that when languages, arts, and cultures come together, they create not only a literary festival but a powerful expression of global human connection.
