Tirupati: The sacred town of Tirupati, renowned as the abode of Lord Venkateswara, resonated with chants of “Govinda, Govinda” as the 26th Gita Maitri Milan of Gita Parivar was held at the grand Mahati Auditorium on March 7, 2026. The spiritual gathering turned into a memorable and historic event, drawing thousands of devotees and seekers devoted to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.
Sacred Beginning with Vedic Rituals
The event commenced with a divine and ceremonial start as priests from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams recited Vedic mantras to invoke blessings. A grand Pothi Yatra marked the formal inauguration, during which Ashu Goyal Bhaiya was ceremonially adorned with a Krishna crown, symbolizing devotion and spiritual leadership.
Adding to the spiritual significance of the occasion, Swami Govinddev Giri, revered spiritual leader and guide to the organization, joined the event virtually via Zoom. His blessings and inspiring message deeply moved the devotees and reinforced their dedication to the timeless wisdom of the Gita.
“Dharma Protects Those Who Protect It”
In his keynote address, Ashu Goyal Bhaiya, International Working President of Gita Parivar, delivered a powerful message centered on the principle “Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah.” He explained that Dharma is not merely a religion or ritual but a duty that protects and guides life.
Drawing a relatable analogy, he said that just as a mobile phone is protected by a screen guard, Dharma acts as a protective shield for life. In today’s materialistic world, he noted, society does not need temporary comforts symbolized by “biscuits,” but a strong “rope” of wisdom represented by the teachings of the Gita to uplift humanity.
Marking the organization’s 40th foundation year, he also urged members to actively expand offline activities through the initiative called “Team 11.”
Musical Recitations and Innovative Engagement
The gathering witnessed a mesmerizing musical recitation of Gita verses by Pooja Bhabhi, Jyoti Didi, and Rupal Didi. Their melodious chanting filled the auditorium with spiritual vibrancy.
Participants also enjoyed interactive sessions such as Gita Antakshari and a unique activity called “Chitra Shloka,” where attendees identified verses from visual representations displayed on screens. These creative initiatives captivated the audience and provided an engaging way to connect younger generations with the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.
Announcement of Tirupati ‘Team 11’
A significant highlight of the event was the announcement of Tirupati Team 11, a dedicated group tasked with expanding Gita Parivar’s offline activities in the region.
Although South Zone head Hari Narayan Vyas Ji could not attend the event in person due to unavoidable circumstances, he joined virtually and addressed the gathering, encouraging volunteers and praising their commitment to spreading the message of the Gita.
Remarkable Growth of the Telugu Wing
The event also celebrated the extraordinary growth of the Telugu-language initiative within the Gita movement. What began in October 2020 with the determination of a single volunteer, Ragini Didi, has now evolved into a massive spiritual movement.
Today the Telugu wing boasts impressive achievements:

-
Over 220,000 Gita practitioners
-
More than 2,000 dedicated volunteers
-
Publication of 84,000 Telugu Gita books
-
Expansion to 28 offline centers
Telugu has now emerged as the fastest-growing language in the LearnGita initiative, reflecting the increasing popularity of the Gita’s teachings in South India. The presence of thousands of devotees at the Maitri Milan further signaled the rising influence of the spiritual movement across the region.
Gratitude to the Unsung Contributors
Organizers expressed deep gratitude to the numerous volunteers and contributors whose tireless efforts made the event possible.
Special recognition was given to Ramadevi Ji and Murali Mohan Ji for laying the foundation of the event. PN Raju Ji, affectionately referred to as the “Hanuman” of the grand event for his relentless dedication, along with Kameshwari Ji, played a crucial role in managing the arrangements.
Several other volunteers—including Supraja Ji, Dakshina Ji, Nirupama Ji, Shailaja Ji, and Dinesh Ji—worked collectively under the leadership of V.V.L.N. Sharma Ji and the Maitri Milan department to ensure smooth execution of the program.
A Journey That Continues
Organizers emphasized that the Maitri Milan is not the final destination but merely a milestone in a larger spiritual journey. With unwavering resolve, the mission of spreading values and cultural awareness through the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita will continue.
As the gathering concluded, participants carried forward the collective spirit of service and the vision of nurturing ethical values in society—ensuring that the wisdom of the Gita continues to illuminate lives across generations.
