NEW DELHI – Indian cricket legends Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, and Virender Sehwag, along with former bowling coach Bharat Arun, will be part of the multi-lingual commentary panel for Sony Sports Network during the Asia Cup T20 tournament, which begins on Tuesday in the UAE.
In its 17th edition, the tournament will see eight teams—India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong—compete for continental supremacy ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup next year. India is scheduled to start its campaign on Wednesday against the UAE.
The broadcast’s world feed will feature prominent commentators including former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, Sanjay Manjrekar, Robin Uthappa, along with international figures like Bazid Khan, Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, Russell Arnold, and Simon Doull.

The Hindi commentary panel will be led by Virender Sehwag and will also feature Irfan Pathan, Ajay Jadeja, former Indian batting coach Abishek Nayar, and Saba Karim. In addition, Sony Sports Network has curated language-specific panels: Bharat Arun will join former players like WV Raman on the Tamil panel, while the Telugu panel includes Venkatapathy Raju and Venugopal Rao.

In a press release from Sony Sports Network, Sunil Gavaskar shared his thoughts on the Indian team, saying, “Under the dynamic leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, Team India steps onto the Asia Cup stage. Ravi Shastri echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the team’s balance. “With Suryakumar Yadav at the helm and Shubman Gill as his deputy, this Indian team presents a perfect blend of experience and youth. Players like Jasprit Bumrah, Abhishek Sharma, and Hardik Pandya have consistently delivered at the international level, while emerging talents like Tilak Varma and Harshit Rana bring fresh energy and options to the team,” he said.
