Gautam Gambhir is the new head coach of the Indian cricket team

New Delhi: Former Team India opener Gautam Gambhir has been made the new head coach of the Indian cricket team. Earlier, Rahul Dravid was playing this role in Team India. Rahul Dravid’s tenure ended after the T20 World Cup 2024. Under Dravid’s coaching, the Indian team won the World Cup title.

Now Gautam Gambhir will work as the new head coach of the team. Gambhir was earlier in the role of mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the IPL and under his guidance KKR won the IPL title for the third time. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed the appointment of Gambhir as the head coach.

Gautam Gambhir also reacted to his appointment by posting a photo of the tricolor on the social media platform ‘X’ and wrote, “India is my identity and serving my country has been the greatest privilege of my life. I am honored to be back, this time my cap is different.

But, my goal has always been the same, to make every Indian proud. The dreams of 1.4 billion Indians are on the shoulders of the ‘Men in Blue’ and I will do everything in my power to make these dreams come true.” Jai Shah gave information on social media.

Earlier, BCCI Secretary Jai Shah gave this information on the social media platform ‘X’ and wrote, “I am very happy to welcome Gautam Gambhir as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. Modern cricket is evolving very fast and Gambhir has seen this change very closely. The role that Gambhir has played in his career, I am confident that Gautam Gambhir is the ideal person to take Indian cricket forward.” His clear vision for the Indian team, his long experience makes him absolutely suitable for the coaching role. Gambhir gave IPL 2024 title to KKR

Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL 2024 tournament under the guidance of Gautam Gambhir. This was KKR’s third trophy in IPL. The special thing is that the KKR team has won all three trophies under Gambhir. Earlier, Gambhir had led KKR to two titles in the IPL as captain. Before becoming the mentor of the KKR team in IPL 2024, Gautam Gambhir was the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants team.

42-year-old Gautam Gambhir has played 58 Test matches, in which he has scored 4,154 runs at an average of 41.96. He has scored 5,238 runs in 147 ODIs at an average of 39.68. Apart from this, Gambhir also has experience of 37 T20 International matches, in which he has scored 932 runs at an average of 27.41. Gautam Gambhir has also played 154 IPL matches in his career, in which he has scored 4,218 runs at an average of 31.04. Under the coaching of Gautam Gambhir, India will also participate in the ICC Champions Trophy and ICC World Test Championship in the year 2025.
