Noida – A Dalit youth, critically injured in a violent assault on October 15, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital. Following the news of his death, angry locals staged a road blockade to protest the incident, police officials said.
The incident occurred in Rabupara town when Sumit and his 18-year-old nephew Aniket were celebrating a birthday at Syed Pokhar. A group of 10–12 men, led by Asif, attacked them with sticks and iron rods, reportedly using caste-based slurs during the assault. Both victims were severely injured and initially admitted to a nearby hospital before Aniket was referred to a Delhi hospital, where he later died.

Two suspects, Yuvraj and Jeetu, have been arrested, while the search for other accomplices continues. Jevar MLA Dhirendra Singh visited the site, assured the victim’s family of strict action against the accused, and facilitated a phone conversation with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, calming the protesting crowd. Police have registered a case under relevant sections based on the family’s complaint filed on October 17
