Varanasi : In a determined push towards environmental sustainability, Ganga Samagra’s Baragaon block held a pivotal meeting and plantation drive as part of its ongoing efforts to rejuvenate the Ganga ecosystem and combat climate change. Regional Organization Minister Sanjay, addressing volunteers at the meeting, urged that the tree plantation target must be met by Raksha Bandhan without fail, citing limited time.
He directed all block and city-level units to conduct meetings and complete the process of forming dedicated teams before the district-level gathering. The campaign aims to inspire community action and align with the broader “Clean and Continuous Ganga” mission.
Divakar Dwivedi, Co-Provincial Coordinator of Ganga Samagra, outlined the organization’s 15 key initiatives and encouraged each action group to contribute meaningfully through plantation activities. Block coordinator Chandra Prakash also motivated the volunteers.
The event began with a traditional floral tribute and lamp-lighting ceremony in front of an image of Maa Ganga. In a symbolic and spiritually rooted gesture, Peepal, Banyan, and Moringa (Sahjan) trees were planted in the village Shiva temple and Panchayat Bhawan premises, accompanied by passionate chants like “Plant Trees, Build Forests”, “Plant a Tree, Save the Environment”, and “Free-Flowing Ganga, Clean Ganga.”

The event was organized by Manoj Pandey, Media Coordinator of Ganga Samagra. Notable attendees included Provincial Treasurer Randeep Singh, Kashi North District Guardian Shashi Prakash Mishra, District Coordinator Dharmendra Ji, Co-Coordinators Raj Narayan Patel and Ambrish Upadhyay, STP Head Anand Singh, Block Coordinator Vineet Shukla, and Praveen Srivastava, a member of the Provincial Village Development Committee.
Local Gram Pradhan Sanjay Pandey (Changwar), Ganga Vahini members Subrat Mishra alias Mintu, Gopal Maurya, Ramesh Pandey, Virendra Pandey, Sunil Singh, and many other enthusiastic volunteers also took part in the green initiative.
The event was hailed as a model of community-driven conservation, blending environmental action with cultural values, as the Ganga Samagra movement continues to rally citizens for a cleaner, greener future.
