Fusion of Creativity and Culture: Lucknow’s Florescence Art Gallery Launches Traditional Tie-and-Dye Workshop

Lucknow: In a vibrant celebration of India’s rich textile heritage and hands-on artistic learning, Florescence Art Gallery has launched a five-day Tie-and-Dye workshop at Lucknow Public College, Gomti Nagar branch. The initiative is part of the ongoing Aesthetic and Cultural Development Programme (2025–26) designed to foster creative expression and cultural awareness among students.

The workshop, running from July 22 to 26, focuses on teaching students the traditional Indian tie-and-dye technique—an age-old textile craft that transforms plain fabrics into colorful patterned masterpieces using simple binding and dyeing methods.

Preserving Tradition Through Experiential Learning

Speaking at the inauguration, Principal Anita Chaudhary of Lucknow Public College emphasized the importance of integrating traditional crafts into modern education.

“Such practical exposure not only nurtures creativity but also connects students with India’s rich textile legacy,” she said.

The workshop has been conceptualized under the guidance of Neha Singh, Founder Director of Florescence Art Gallery and Director of Academics and Innovation, Lucknow Public Schools and Colleges.

“Our goal is to promote experiential learning through practical art modules while nurturing cultural consciousness,” Singh explained.

Led by Experts, Powered by Passion

Veteran artists and craft instructors Saroj Singh and Shivani Yadav are spearheading the hands-on sessions. Their expertise ensures that students not only grasp the techniques but also appreciate the deeper cultural and artistic value of this ancient textile tradition.

The workshop has drawn enthusiastic participation from students and faculty alike, making it a promising platform for reviving interest in traditional Indian crafts while blending them seamlessly with contemporary art education.

With initiatives like these, Lucknow continues to emerge as a hub where art, culture, and education converge, fostering young minds to become not just skilled artists, but culturally rooted citizens.
