Awareness is the Strongest Weapon Against Cyber Slavery, OLX Scams, and Online Frauds
Lucknow: In view of the alarming rise in cybercrime, the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission organized a special workshop on Cybercrime and Artificial Intelligence today under the chairmanship of Dr. Babita Singh Chauhan, Chairperson, UP State Women’s Commission. The session was inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony by Dr. Chauhan, Vice Chairperson Aparna Yadav, member Charu Choudhary, and Arun Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Lucknow.
During the awareness programme, ACP Arun Kumar highlighted various cybercrimes, including phishing links, vishing calls, online marketplace scams, ATM card skimming, SIM swapping, UPI account takeover frauds, QR code scams, sextortion (honey traps), fake websites, fraudulent loans, MLM/pyramid schemes, fake bank recovery agents, WhatsApp hacking, malware attacks, and cashback frauds. He stressed that awareness and vigilance remain the most powerful tools to protect oneself from these threats.

Officials emphasized that upcoming public hearings and awareness camps across districts will specifically focus on empowering women and girls with knowledge to combat such digital crimes.

In the second session, the Commission held its monthly review meeting, where Dr. Chauhan reviewed public hearings and inspections conducted under Mission Shakti 4.0. Discussions revolved around ensuring faster, more effective benefits of commission-led programmes to women across the state.
The event witnessed active participation from Commission members including Sunita Srivastava, Poonam Dwivedi, Anupama Singh Lodhi, Sujita Kumari, Meena Kumari, Geeta Bind, Geeta Vishwakarma, Pushpa Pandey, Dr. Priyanka Maurya, Minakshi Bharala, Ritu Shahi, Sunita Saini, Ekta Singh, Archana Patel, Janak Nandini, Pratibha Kushwaha, Renu Gaur, Avni Singh, Dr. Himani Agrawal, Manisha Ahlawat, along with senior officials Sachin Dixit, Finance Officer, and ACP Arun Kumar.
The workshop concluded with a collective pledge to strengthen cyber safety awareness, especially among women and vulnerable groups.
