Gorakhpur: Every parent dreams of their child making them proud, and that pride doubles when their child chooses to serve the nation. Such is the inspiring story of Vikas Singh Yadav from Tamalpura village in Gazipur. Having grown up watching his father wear the army medal on his chest, Vikas always dreamt of serving the nation. With his father being a retired army Subedar, the passion for the army ran deep in his veins. All he needed was the star to complete his dream, and he worked tirelessly to achieve it. This weekend after the Passing Out Parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, Vikas’s parents, Akhilesh Singh Yadav and Premshila Devi, proudly pinned the lieutenant star on his shoulders, dedicating him to the service of the nation.
Vikas Singh Yadav, hailing from Gazipur’s Tamalpura village, was commissioned into the Indian Army as a Lieutenant. His journey began with his schooling at Army Public School, Nehru Road, Lucknow, followed by his success in the National Defence Academy (NDA) entrance in 2021. After three years of rigorous training at NDA Khadakwasla, Pune, he joined IMA Dehradun in January 2024.
