Free HPV Vaccination Drive Conducted at University of Lucknow’s Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Lucknow: Under the esteemed patronage of Hon’ble Governor and Chancellor  Anandiben Patel and  Vice Chancellor Prof. Manuka Khanna, the second phase of the free HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination campaign was successfully held at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Second Campus, University of Lucknow. The initiative, supported by the Serum Institute of India and ICICI Bank, aims to prevent cervical cancer and other HPV-related infections among young women.

Girls aged 15 to 26 participated enthusiastically in the drive, where India’s first indigenous HPV vaccine ‘Cervavac’ was administered. The university administration guided the program, reinforcing its commitment to promoting women’s health and preventive care. The institute also announced plans to organize the third and final dose in the coming months for complete protection.

After receiving their doses, students expressed pride and gratitude for the initiative, noting how it raised awareness about women’s health and preventive measures. Students Deepali Singh and Preeti Yadav emphasized that staying health-conscious is the first step toward a secure future and urged the youth to spread awareness about such campaigns.

Participants including Godhooli Sharma and Satakshi Srivastava shared that the vaccination inspired them to take charge of their health and encourage others to do the same.

All vaccinated girls were gifted ‘Organic Period Kits’ through a collaboration between the United Nations-awarded Pink Shakti App and FICCI FLO Chairperson  Vandita Agarwal. Pink Shakti App’s Chief Visionary  Snigdha Ritesh interacted with participants and highlighted the app’s free health consultation services, while extending gratitude to Prof. Khanna and Director Prof. Pushpendra Kumar Tripathi for their support.

Prof. Manuka Khanna lauded the institute’s efforts, calling the campaign a commendable step toward safeguarding student health and promoting awareness. Prof. Tripathi described the initiative as a reflection of the University of Lucknow’s commitment to health security and social responsibility, urging students to spread HPV awareness in their communities.

University physicians Dr. Rajesh Kumar Saroj and Dr. Pragi Kapoor were also present on the occasion. Director, IPPR, University of Lucknow — Accredited A++ by NAAC.
