Lucknow: In a significant step toward enhancing road safety, the Transport Department in Lucknow, in collaboration with Tulip Hi-Tech India Pvt. Ltd., successfully organized a 10-day free eye check-up camp for drivers, conductors, and the general public.
The camp was held from March 26 to April 4, 2026, across key transport hubs including Alambagh Bus Terminal, Charbagh Bus Depot, Kaiserbagh Workshop, and Awadh Bus Depot. The initiative aimed to address vision-related issues among drivers, which are often a major contributing factor to road accidents.
According to officials, over 500 transport personnel underwent eye examinations during the camp. Experienced optometrists conducted the screenings, ensuring proper diagnosis and guidance for participants.
Mukesh Maharaj, representing Tulip Eyewear, stated that the objective of the initiative was not only to provide better eye care services but also to raise awareness about road safety. He emphasized that even minor vision defects or negligence among heavy vehicle drivers can lead to serious accidents.

The camp witnessed active participation from transport workers, who showed increased awareness by voluntarily coming forward for eye check-ups. Officials from the Transport Department also extended strong support, contributing to the success of the initiative.
The program highlighted the importance of regular eye examinations for drivers and reinforced the need for preventive measures to reduce road accidents in the region.
