“Consumer Protection is Paramount in the Real Estate Sector” – UP RERA Chairman
Lucknow: In a significant step towards strengthening transparency and consumer protection in the real estate sector, the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) has launched a four-day training program for RERA agents. The initiative aims to ensure that only qualified and knowledgeable individuals are registered as RERA agents. Upon successful completion of the training and examination, participants will be certified and registered under UP RERA, marking a crucial reform for homebuyers’ interests.
The program was inaugurated today by Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy, Chairman of UP RERA. Addressing the participants, he emphasized the need for formal training, stating, “Earlier, anyone could apply to become a RERA agent without any knowledge of real estate laws, especially RERA regulations. But under the new system, a four-day training is mandatory for all aspiring agents.”
Currently, two training centers are operational – one in Lucknow and another in Gautam Buddha Nagar. So far, nine batches have completed the training, and this marks the beginning of the tenth batch.
Chairman Bhoosreddy further added, “After completing the training, candidates must pass an examination to receive certification. The training covers legal frameworks, the roles and responsibilities of agents, and other regulatory aspects essential to uphold transparency in the sector.”

Certified agents can then apply for registration on the RERA portal. The initial registration is valid for five years, after which renewal will be based on the agent’s performance and compliance.
“The objective is to make the home-buying process smoother and hassle-free. Buyers will now have access to full details about certified agents, reducing the scope for complaints and fraudulent activities,” Bhoosreddy said.
The event was also attended by Mahendra Verma, Secretary, UP RERA; Abrar Ahmed, Chief Consultant; Sudhanshu Tripathi, Financial Advisor; Umashankar Singh, Joint Secretary; and Ambreesh, Assistant Director (Systems), along with other RERA officials.
This initiative represents a strategic move by UP RERA to enhance professionalism in the real estate sector while safeguarding the interests of property buyers across the state.
