Foundation Stone Laid for Renovation of Historic Pond in Kopaganj, Mau

Energy Minister A.K. Sharma Announces Pond to be Named ‘Kalp Sarovar’ in Honor of Late Kalpanath Rai

Lucknow/Mau | The Bhoomi Pujan and foundation stone laying ceremony for the rejuvenation of a historic public pond located in the ancient Shiva temple premises of Nagar Panchayat Kopaganj (District Mau) was completed today. The ceremony was conducted by Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma.

The pond’s renovation, estimated at a cost of 81 lakh, will include cleaning, structural strengthening, beautification, and water conservation measures. Speaking at the event, the Minister highlighted the cultural and environmental significance of the project, emphasizing that restored traditional water bodies contribute to both groundwater recharge and the promotion of cultural heritage.

Marking the death anniversary of late Kalpanath Rai , the Minister announced that the pond will be renamed ‘Kalp Sarovar’ in his honor. The tribute recognizes Rai’s legacy and contributions to the region.

The Minister reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the holistic development of Mau and other districts. He stated that efforts are underway to enhance traditional water source management, urban infrastructure, sanitation, and public amenities across the city.

During his district tour, A.K. Sharma: Garlanded the statue of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, paying his respects.
Inspected the under-construction Madhuban Bus Stand, issuing strict instructions to officials to ensure timely and quality completion of the project.

The event witnessed the presence of Ghosi MLA  Sudhakar Singh, District President Ramashraay Maurya, senior officials from various departments, local representatives, and a large number of local residents.
