Lucknow – In a commendable gesture aimed at promoting academic excellence, former Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh, Prashant Kumar, has donated 227 books to the Tagore Library at Lucknow University. The contribution includes several books from his own student days, adding personal significance to the generous offering.

The donated collection spans a wide array of subjects, ranging from Indian history, literature, and tribal culture to the valour of the Indian Armed Forces. Books detailing the lives and philosophies of national icons like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Rabindranath Tagore are also part of the donation. The collection further includes titles on astrology, palmistry, and various Indian knowledge systems.

In keeping with modern academic and professional demands, the library will now also feature important texts on cybercrime, criminal law, and Uttar Pradesh Police regulations. Students will find valuable resources on communication theories, administrative experiences, and international relations. Additionally, biographies of notable Indian and international personalities and an impressive selection of Hindi literary works and novels enrich the collection.

This donation is expected to be especially beneficial for students preparing for competitive exams, providing them with a deeper and more diverse pool of knowledge to draw from.

Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University, Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, lauded the initiative, calling it an inspiration for other senior administrative officials to support educational institutions in similar ways. The university community expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prashant Kumar, acknowledging that his thoughtful contribution will benefit generations of students and scholars to come.
