Lucknow— In a unique fan engagement initiative, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) offered Lucknow Metro passengers a golden opportunity to meet their cricketing idols from the IPL team Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Through the ‘#LSGRailSelfie’ contest, five lucky winners were selected to attend the team’s exclusive practice session at the iconic Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium.
As part of the initiative, passengers were invited to creatively showcase their connection with the Metro service by clicking selfies with a specially-themed LSG Metro train. Decorated with artwork featuring LSG players, this vibrant metro ran across the Lucknow network beginning April 9.
To participate, commuters had to post their selfies on Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #LSGRailSelfie and tag UPMRC’s official handle. The contest, which concluded on May 24, received hundreds of enthusiastic entries, from which five winners were handpicked.

Special Day With Stars at Ekana Stadium
The five selected winners were granted a behind-the-scenes experience at LSG’s practice session. They not only got to watch the players train live but also interacted with them and took photos. The highlight of the day was a meet-and-greet with fast bowler Avesh Khan, who personally handed out official team jerseys to the winners. Overjoyed by the gesture, participants described the experience as a “once-in-a-lifetime memory.”

“A Selfie That Took Me to Ekana”: Winner Nidhi Tripathi
Expressing her excitement, one of the winners, Nidhi Tripathi, said, “I never imagined that a simple selfie would land me at Ekana Stadium, face-to-face with my favorite players. This will remain a cherished memory forever.”

Turning Transit into a Cultural Experience
Commenting on the initiative, UPMRC Managing Director Sushil Kumar said, “The LSG-Rail contest was more than a promotional activity—it was an effort to turn public transit into a community and cultural experience. It’s heartening to see how this campaign deepened the emotional connection between the Metro service and its passengers.”
This creative collaboration between public transport and professional sports set a new benchmark for citizen engagement in Lucknow, blending convenience with a dash of cricketing excitement.
