Lucknow | The upcoming film Godan, centered on cow protection, the cultural significance of the cow in Indian civilisation, and the scientific relevance of Panchgavya, is set to release nationwide on February 6. Ahead of its release, the film’s producer-director Vinod Chaudhary paid a courtesy visit to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday, during which the official trailer of the film was launched.
During the interaction, the filmmaker highlighted that the most extensive and ground-level work related to cow protection in India has taken place in Uttar Pradesh. He credited this progress to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s clear vision, firm commitment, and decisive leadership, which served as a major inspiration behind the making of the film.

Since Yogi Adityanath assumed office, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed strict action against cow smuggling, leading to large-scale arrests of offenders. Reflecting the government’s commitment to cow welfare, more than 7,500 cow shelters have been established across the state over the past nine years, safeguarding over 12 lakh abandoned cattle. Cow protection committees have also been formed in every district, with District Magistrates and Senior Superintendents of Police appointed as nodal officers.
Producer-director Vinod Chaudhary briefed the Chief Minister on the film’s theme, objectives, and social message, describing Godan as more than a cinematic narrative. According to him, the film serves as a comprehensive document on cow conservation, Indian cultural values, scientific awareness, and collective social responsibility.
Chaudhary stated that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the focal point of cow protection efforts in the country, citing the expansion of gaushalas, care for abandoned cattle, stringent action against smuggling, and the prioritisation of cow welfare under the present leadership. He added that responsibilities traditionally expected from society are being exemplified by the Chief Minister himself.

The filmmaker also expressed concern that younger generations are gradually losing touch with the importance of the cow, often abandoning animals once they stop producing milk. He emphasised that caring for cows is not solely the government’s responsibility but a moral and social duty of every citizen.
A key theme of Godan is “Panch Parivartan through Panchgavya,” portraying how Panchgavya contributes to positive changes in human life. The film presents these ideas through a scientific lens, highlighting its potential benefits for mental well-being and overall health.
The producer urged that the film be watched especially by the youth, students, and families, and expressed hope that it would be granted tax-free status to ensure wider reach across society.
Those present during the meeting included Vinod Chaudhary (Producer), Shantanu Shukla (Head of Publicity), Dr. Kapil Tyagi (CMD, Yatharth Hospital, Noida), and Naval Kishore. Cow Service Commission Chairman Shyam Bihari Gupta also lauded the government’s arrangements for cow welfare in the state and appealed to people of all age groups to watch the film with their families.
